This is a common question when people are looking for a bedroom rug, as it can be a tough balance to find a size that is neither too dominating nor too small in the space.

What Size Rug Under King Bed
A king bed will measure in the region of 76 inches wide and 80 inches long (or 6 feet 4 inches by 6 feet 8 inches), though this can vary slightly depending on how chunky or slender the frame of the bed is. The size of the rug you need for under your king bed will depend on how much of it you want to be under the bed, as well as any other furniture.
You should also be careful to make sure furniture isn’t made unstable when standing on a rug. The general rule for rugs is that they should extend out from underneath the furniture by at least one foot; otherwise, they look too small and out of place. With this in mind, the following standard rug sizes work well for underneath a king bed.
8 foot by 10 foot: For a rug that is underneath the whole of the bed but not under any other furniture, this size of rug works well. It allows enough of the rug to be shown at the sides of the bed and a longer piece at the foot of the bed.
This size can also work well turned on its side to have two-thirds of the rug under the bed, with no rug under the head of the bed or nightstands. You could also pull the rug out further and have it underneath one-third of the bed, allowing more of the rug to be seen at the foot end of the bed.
9 foot by 12 foot and 10 foot by 14 foot: These standard-sized rugs work well underneath one-third or two-thirds of the bed, as above, but with additional areas of the floor covered by the rug. These would be ideal in a larger room to help define parts of the space.
12 foot by 15 foot: This is the size of rug you need if you want it to go underneath your king bed and your nightstands. It is also long enough to accommodate a bench or storage ottoman at the foot of the bed.

There are several options when it comes to the placement of a rug under a king-sized bed, and this will depend on the shape and size of your bedroom, as well as the formation of your other furniture. Most people will have nightstands next to their beds, so you’ll need to consider if you also want the nightstands to be on the rug, as well as an end-of-bed ottoman or other nearby furniture.

Only The bed On the Rug
This involves having the rug placed centrally underneath the bed, ensuring all four legs of the bed are on top of the rug, and no other furniture.
All nearby furniture on the Rug
This requires the rug to be large enough to cover the floor space underneath the beds, the nightstands, and the ottoman or bench at the foot of the bed. All feet or bases of the furniture should be on top of the rug.
Two-thirds of the Rug Under the Bed
This will mean that the nightstands are not situated on top of the rug, but the end feet of the bed and a bench at the foot of the bed will be. The rug will be positioned so that a person getting out of bed will still be stepping out directly onto the rug.
One-third of the Rug Under the Bed.
This will allow the foot of the bed and a bench or ottoman to be placed on top of the rug, and an additional portion of the rug will be jutting out into the room. This can work well if you get dressed in this part of the room and want to be standing on comfortable flooring.
